Preamble

Taking into account the United Nations guidelines on business and human rights and recognizing the fundamental role of enterprises in protecting children's rights, in particular the right to safety, dignity, and freedom from all forms of harm, Hotel Wodnik s.c. adopts this "Minor Protection Policy" as an official document regulating actions taken in the event of suspected threats to the welfare of a child staying on the hotel premises and as a set of preventive principles aimed at preventing such situations. The document also includes provisions of the Act of July 28, 2023, amending the Family and Guardianship Code and some other acts.

General Principles

  1. Hotel Wodnik conducts its activities with the utmost respect for human rights, prioritizing children's rights as a group particularly vulnerable to the risk of harm.
  2. The facility acknowledges its social and legal responsibility to prevent violence against children and to support a safe and friendly environment for families.
  3. The staff of Hotel Wodnik s.c. undergo regular training in recognizing signs of child abuse and applying appropriate response procedures.
  4. Every employee is obliged to identify children and establish their relationship with the adults they are staying with on the premises, especially in situations causing concern or that are unusual.

Procedure in Case of Suspected Child Abuse

1. Before checking in adults with children, the following actions are taken at the facility:

  • identify the child,
  • establish their relationship with the adult,
  • request a document confirming the child's identity and the adult's right to custody.

2. If no document is available, it is possible to collect the child's data (name, surname, address, PESEL) and contact information for the legal guardian.

3. If the nature of the stay of adults with the child raises doubts, staff informs the supervisor and security, and the child and adult remain under observation.

4. The supervisor decides on further steps, including the possibility of notifying the police. The above procedures stem from concern for children's safety.

Procedure in Case of Confirmed or Serious Suspicion of Child Abuse

1. In case of justified suspicion that a child has been harmed:

  • the police (tel. 112) are notified immediately,
  • the child is provided with care and a sense of security,
  • the suspected person is separated from the child,
  • monitoring recordings and other evidence are secured,
  • the event is documented in an internal log.

2. In special cases, a citizen's arrest may be made.

3. Until the police arrive, the child remains under the care of staff.

4. In cases of suspected crime involving the perpetrator's biological material, evidence must be secured and washing the child avoided.

Employment of Persons Working with Children

  1. Every person having contact with children must be verified in the Sexual Offenders Registry (restricted access).
  2. Verification is documented with a printout and attached to personal files.
  3. Employees submit a statement of no criminal record and that no proceedings for offenses against children are pending against them.
  4. Verification is renewed at least once a year.
