Giżycko AirShow 2026 – aerial show over Lake Niegocin
Some events are hard to imagine in a better setting than Masuria. The roar of engines, acrobatics just above the lake, the setting sun and lights reflected in the water – all this awaits spectators at Giżycko AirShow 2026. This year’s edition takes place on Saturday, August 22, with Hotel Wodnik and Gwarek Mazury once again among the event partners.
What’s more, the pilots taking part in the displays will stay at Hotel Wodnik. So you may meet at breakfast or in the hotel lobby the people who, just hours later, will take the controls of these remarkable machines.
Six hours of displays over Lake Niegocin
Giżycko AirShow starts at 17:00 and runs until 23:00. The main arena will be the airspace above Lake Niegocin. The best views will be from the Municipal Beach, pier, nearby ports and waterfronts.
Entry is free.
The program is divided into three parts. First come daytime aerobatic displays, showcasing the pilots’ skills and aircraft capabilities. The next stage begins at sunset. Unusual balloons will appear over the lake, while Bala Band with Nick Sinckler provides the evening’s music.
The finale belongs to the night displays. Light, music and pyrotechnics will combine in a spectacle enhanced by Niegocin’s surface reflecting every effect. Giżycko AirShow is therefore well worth watching to the very end.
Acrobatics, formations, expert pilots
The participants include pilots and teams from Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. Over Niegocin, they will present modern aerobatic planes, historic aircraft, motor gliders and powered paragliders.
The announced lineup includes:
- Firebirds formation in three Extra 330 aircraft,
- Norbert Kasperek flies an Extra 330SC,
- Maciej Kulaszewski in an Extra 300L,
- Lithuanian pilot Jurgis Kairys, Sukhoi Su-31,
- Bartosz “Bartek” Castelli, Pitts aircraft,
- Dominik Motoła in a BushCat,
- Czech Retro Sky Team,
- Piper Demo Team,
- British Airborne Pyrotechnics,
- Paweł “Lojak” Kozarzewski on powered PG,
- seven-person FlyDragons Team formation.
The exact takeoff order has not yet been announced. Please also note that aviation programs may change due to weather or operational issues.
Not just aircraft
Although aviation is the event’s main attraction, the organizers have also prepared extras. Two Shape balloons are expected over Niegocin: a sunflower-shaped balloon from Germany and a ship-shaped balloon from the Netherlands. The latter perfectly suits Giżycko’s sailing character.
There will be plenty of excitement on the water too. The program will include spectacular flyboard displays, with riders rising above the lake on high-pressure water jets.
The event will be commentated by Tomasz Buszewski – a journalist, pilot and experienced airshow commentator. Commentary and music will be broadcast on 87.7 FM. A small radio or an FM-enabled phone may therefore prove very useful, especially away from the main speakers.
Giżycko AirShow with children
The displays over Niegocin are a great way to spark children’s interest in aviation. The Little Aviator Zone will offer competitions, games and the chance to build models themselves.
One of the zone’s biggest attractions will be an F-16 simulator. Children can also visit the Modelers’ Club and the WAWEL Truck for sweets and extra surprises.
Families attending should remember hearing protection for young children. Aerobatic planes, music and evening pyrotechnics can be very loud. Water, a hat for the first part of the displays, and a warmer sweatshirt or light jacket for the evening will also come in handy.
Where to watch the displays?
The main public viewing area will be Giżycko’s Municipal Beach. The pier, ports and waterfronts around Niegocin should also offer good views. The spectacle can also be enjoyed from yachts, houseboats and Żegluga Mazurska vessels.
Anyone watching from the water must follow the display-zone signs and instructions from the services. Security will be provided, among others, by the Police, Fire Service, MOPR, Municipal Guard and medical teams.
Giżycko AirShow takes place in the middle of the tourist season, so expect heavier traffic around the beach and pier. Arrive early, leave your car in an authorized spot away from the busiest waterfront area, and walk the final stretch.
Aviation thrills: Hotel Wodnik & Gwarek Mazury
We are delighted that Hotel Wodnik and Gwarek Mazury are partners of this event, which attracts aviation enthusiasts, local residents and holidaymakers to Giżycko.
This will be a special edition for Hotel Wodnik also because the participating pilots will stay here. Every maneuver performed over the lake represents years of training, immense precision and total concentration. We are especially pleased to host the people behind the thrills that will fill Giżycko’s skies that day.
If you are planning an August stay in Masuria, consider adding Giżycko AirShow to your itinerary. It combines sporting precision, music, light and the unique landscape of the Great Masurian Lakes.
See you over Niegocin on August 22!
